2027 Prep Enrolment
Welcome to Specimen Hill Primary School’s Enrolment information page. Starting school is an exciting time for children, parents and carers. We want to help make the enrolment process as easy as possible for you.
Our school zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Foundation (Prep) enrolments - Enrolling in Prep 2027
All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.
You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026.
What you need to do:
- Contact our school [insert school contact information] to book an optional school tour.
- Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by Monday 20 April 2026). This pack includes guidance on the application process.
- Submit an enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026.
- You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026.
- If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.
- Take part in school transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.
- Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28 January 2027.
Enrolment applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Enrolment Policy.

Transition Program
At Specimen Hill P.S. we offer a Transition Program that allows children and parents to familiarise themselves with the school, staff and students.
Prep Information Sessions and Open Day
- Tuesday 19th May - Open Day 9am -11am. School tours conducted by our School Captains, Junior School Councillors and Principal class at this time.
- Tuesday 19th May 5:30pm - 6:30pm for prospective Prep students and families. School Tour Included.
Orientation Program Dates
- Tuesday 17th November One-on-One Interviews
- Tuesday 24th November 9:15am - 10:45am
- Tuesday 1st December 9:15am - 10:45am
- Statewide Transition Day Tuesday 8th December 9am-11:45am
During the last orientations session our 2027 Prep students will be introduced to their classroom teacher, their classmates and Grade 6 buddies, setting them up for a great start in 2027.
